The gateway to Glacier National Park, Kalispell, Montana, is a mixture of Historic properties and Contemporary cultivation. Downtown features restored 1800s buildings, one of the most notable being the Conrad Mansion that is now a museum featuring period furnishings. Main Street is the hub of the feisty downtown where there is a lot more than window shopping to indulge in.

The top reason most travel to Kalispell is for exploring some of the most breathtaking scenery in the northern USA, Glacier National Park. The drive to the park is 32 miles with some fun places to stop along the way – family attractions and funky eateries – and vistas you won’t want to miss. The Park is open year round and the fall and winter are some of the local’s favorite times because of the slower pace. But, whatever season you decide to go, it will be the trip of a lifetime.

In summer, there is an incredible hike to a lake that very few have ever seen – Grinnell Lake. This trail is one of the easier trails in the Many Glacier area and the reward is you get to see this ~

Depending on the angle of the sun, it will appear as turquoise or sapphire blue. Can you picture yourself here?

Then there is Flathead Lake, which is the largest natural lake in the west and is a popular playground in the summer for sailboats and other water sports – or for lazing in the sun.

Another spectacular drive that is open all seasons – weather permitting – is the Going to the Sun highway. The length of the road is approximately 50 miles and spans the width of the park between the east and west entrance stations. The road is narrow and has many hairpin turns – there are restrictions for certain RV’s. Check before you attempt to drive the road.
