Dang Debbie’s 5 Can Hillbilly Chile is fast, cheap and will make you happy and warm. Use your choice of meat, ground beef or turkey or cubed and browned chunks of beef or pork.
1 pound of meat of your choice
1 cup chopped onion
2 Tbs. vegetable oil
1 – 28 oz. Can of Cento Pureed Tomatoes
1 – 14 oz. can of petite diced tomatoes
1 small can of tomato paste
2 cans of beans of your choice – do not drain
1 to 2 Tbs. cayenne pepper or more to taste
1 Tbs. ground Cumin
1 Tbs. Garlic Salt
1 tsp. Mexican Oregano
If using ground meat, cook it in the oil with the chopped onion. If using cubed meat, brown in the oil and then remove the meat, add the onions and continue.
Add the 5 cans of beans and tomatoes. Add seasonings. Let simmer for a few minutes to combine the flavors. Add cubed meat for the last few minutes of cooking.
Taste and adjust seasonings to your liking.
Serve with fun toppings like cheddar cheese, scallions, sour cream, avocado, cilantro, etc.
