Route 66 - Part 3 - Pasadena

Whether you are motivated by an interest in its history, feel a nostalgic yearning for the good old days the route has come to represent, or simply want to experience firsthand the amazing diversity of people and landscapes that line its path, Route 66 offers an unforgettable journey into America, then and now.

When you think of Pasadena, you naturally think of the Rose Parade but Pasadena has so much more to offer than that!

There aren’t many choices for RV parking in Pasadena itself, however one of the RV parks closest to Pasadena is the East Shore RV Park in San Dimas, just 20 minutes from Pasadena.

East Shore RV Park

East Shore RV Park gets high ratings from visitors.  The park is located on the banks of stream fed Puddingstone Lake, which is stocked with trout and bass several times a year for the fisherman. Bring your own boat or rent one to enjoy fishing, lake swimming, water skiing, sail boating or jet skiing on the Puddingston lake in Bonelli Regional County Park. Large county park within walking distance has picnicking, horseback riding rentals, 18 hole Mountain Meadows Golf Course, Raging Waters River Rides, Slides, hiking, bicycling trails and Hot tub rentals. The Pasadena Freeway (Hwy-110) drops you off unceremoniously short of Pasadena, but following Figueroa Street brings you in with a bang on the soaring Colorado Boulevard Bridge, an elegantly arching concrete bridge at the western edge of Pasadena, which long marked the symbolic entrance to Los Angeles from the east.

Colorado Boulevard Bridge

Recently restored, the bridge spans Arroyo Seco along the south side of the Ventura Freeway (Hwy-134). Arroyo Seco itself is full of significant sights, including college football’s Rose Bowl and some of the most important arts-and-crafts–era architecture in Southern California.

Pasadena is dynamic – vibrant with activity and full of culture.  The Public Art Program features walking tours that are about 30 minutes to an hour where you can enjoy many renowned local and nationally recognized artists works.

Other art to enjoy can be found at the Norton Simon , which has a medium-sized but impeccably chosen collection of western and southeast Asian art, ranging from Hindu sculpture to one the world’s foremost collections of Degas paintings, drawings, and sculptures.
