Las Vegas RVing? – Fire It Up!

Las Vegas RVing? – Fire It Up!
When you’re RVing in Las Vegas, and the excitement of all the lights and slot machine alarms finally wears off, there’s a fantastic Nevada State Park called Valley of Fire just a short drive up I-15, and it is definitely worth the time for an RV sidebar.  To get there just take I-15 north for about 37 miles and watch for highway 169 to the Valley of Fire.

This spectacular overview with a storm approaching is an excellent example
of sky and color.

Valley of Fire Beehives Rocks
Beehives Rocks

Unusual sandstone formations weathered by the eroding forces of wind and water. Nearby are three group camping areas, available by reservation only.

                                            Atlatl Rock

Outstanding examples of ancient Indian rock art or petroglyphs, including a depiction of the atlatl (at'-lat-l), a notched stick used to throw primitive spears. The atlatl was a predecessor to the bow and arrow. The adjacent Atlatl Rock Campground provides a modern restroom and shower building.

Valley of Fire Arch Rock Arch Rock

Arch Rock:   Near Atlatl Rock Campground is the more primitive Arch Rock Campground with its more secluded campsites. A two-mile scenic loop road provides views of some of the Valley's most interesting rock formations, such as Arch Rock and Piano Rock.

So pull the plugs at RV campground in Las Vegas and make the short trip with your motor home, 5th wheel or travel trailer to Valley of Fire State Park where Mother Nature puts on a display of color every day, and she doesn't even need any electricity!

Then when the sun goes down, another show awaits you, as millions of stars are visible due to the lack of artificial light out in the desert.  You can see satellites orbiting the earth with the naked eye and a great view of the Milky Way will set the night sky on Fire!
