RV Decorating for the Holidays
There are almost as many ideas for decorating a RV for Christmas as there are types of RVs. Small space decorating means that you don’t have to have a ton of decorating items to make a big impact. Of course there are those who say the more the merrier! Which ever philosophy you embrace, here are some tips for decorating your RV.
Decorating the exterior of the RV can be simple or over the top, depending on where you are parked for the holidays and the type of electrical connection that’s available.

Rope lights are easy to install and they don’t get all tangled up when stored. You can get them in 110 volts and 12 volts DC, so if you don’t have a generator you can still light up your RV.

If you’re in a location where you can leave the awning extended, you can string it with all sorts of decorations from garland to icicle lights.
Some create an entire holiday scene on the dashboard

If space allows, you could set up a lighted display or set up some inflatables - or both!

If space is limited you can place a Christmas flag that hangs from a metal stand at the entry of your RV or hang a large one from flag pole if you have a way to attach one to the RV.

Consider putting out a holiday door mat outside and inside.

Wreaths are a
nice touch for the grill of your RV or for inside! They can be simple and natural or glitzy.
You probably wouldn't want to hang the glitzy one on the grill!
Decorating on the inside is easier than you think. You just have to make sure that what is important to your holiday traditions you have room to carry and store it. Keep the weight of what you’re carrying in mind too. Some full time RVers have a storage unit in a location where they always spend Christmas so they don't have to worry about storage or the extra weight.
For most people a Christmas tree is the most important item and once upon a time was one of the most difficult to work into a motor home. These days you can find a tree that will fit your space easily.

There are miniature table top trees starting from 6 inches up . This one is 4 feet tall and comes strung with minature lights in a beautiful urn. Just add a few of your favorite ornaments.
Trees that are made to fit in a corner and Half trees for putting against
a wall are a great option for a small or unusual space.

Skinny Trees that don’t take up much floor space are easily found in a variety of heights.

Or a simple wire tree to hang your favorite ornaments on might be more to your style.
Consider buying and decorating a living tree. If you're in a location that would allow it, you could plant it when you leave.
Lights around the interior of a motor home really sets the mood. Indoor lights can be just a few colorful lights around the windows or worked in all throughout the space!

For others, a Christmas stocking is a must. If you have a big rig with an electric fireplace, you can hang them on there. Otherwise think creatively. You can hang them on a suction cup on a window, from a hook screwed into the underside of a cabinet, from the drapes or from a garland strung across the cab. In one of the other photos above you can see where they have been hung on the outside of the RV.
For simplicity and warmth toss a Holiday themed throw and pillow on the sofa. . .

An easy way to add festive decorations that are practical and useful too is by decorating your dining table. Start with a holiday table cloth or runner. Add a small, simple centerpiece. Plain white dishes take on another personality with just a few holiday touches like Christmas Poppers, and colorful ribbons as runners.

Another idea for an interesting centerpiece is to make a centerpiece from fruits, nuts and candy. It will get eaten and if you use an inexpensive basket you can toss it afterwards!

A place setting of holiday dishes doesn’t take up much room and can add so much ambiance. You can find inexpensive ones and if you don't want to store them until next Christmas you could donate them to a charity thrift shop. Placemats and napkins are also easy to carry and store.

You can create some fun decorations by wrapping an interior door or storage doors like presents. Hang door decorations from door knobs.
Whether you love it or hate it - Christmas music is one of the best ways to get into the Christmas spirit. Music ties us to our memories like nothing else can - except for the smells from Mom's kitchen! So, light some candles with scents of the holidays like gingerbread or pine or plug in a potpourri with your favorite smell.
And last, but not least, if you are traveling with a pet you can deck them out too!
