Carlsbad Offers More than Bats!

Carlsbad Offers More than Bats!

You will discover an amazing amount of things to see and do in Carlsbad, other than the famous Carlsbad Caverns, which is a must see of you are visiting this area of New Mexico.  However, if it's the bat flight you're most interested in seeing, the bats go south in October and return in March.

Other attractions to explore and enjoy include the Living Desert Zoo and Garden Park, Brantley Lake State Park, Sitting Bull Falls and Roaring Spring.  You will find many places to enjoy hiking, swimming, fishing, skiing and whitewater rafting.  If you enjoy stargazing and astronomy be sure to bring your telescope!  The night skies in New Mexico are wonderful!  You will more stars than in other areas of the country due to the altitude and less light pollution.

Within a days drive you can take in other major attractions like White Sands National Park, the Sun Spot Observatory, Ruidoso, Ruidoso Downs, Ski Apache, Cloudcroft Ski Area, Bonita Lake, the UFO Museum in Roswell, Goddard Planetarium and Museum and the WIPP site.  For you golfers there is the Lake Carlsbad Golf Course, the Carlsbad City Golf Course, Riverside Country Club and the Artesia Country Club.

There’s a 6000 square foot clubhouse, swimming pool and hot tub, restrooms and showers, laundry, exercise room and tanning room.   The campground store offers ice, propane firewood, food and cold drinks, RV supplies, plus a unique selection of gift items.  And, if you’re all tuckered out from a day of exploring you can kick back and enjoy a dinner from Scott’s Chuckwagon Café delivered right to your site.  Scott smokes brisket, pork and baby back ribs over mesquite and pecan wood for a fabulous taste treat!  You can also get all your favorite sides and desserts with your meal.  Kids can choose from Corn Dogs, Grilled Cheese sandwiches or Pizza if they’re not into BBQ.  You need to order early though because the last order is taken at 6pm!
