My Tracker Bass Boat is Gone!!

My Tracker Bass Boat is Gone!!

In a previous story I told you about buying my husband a Tracker bass boat for our 7th wedding anniversary.

One of our first trips with the new Tracker bass boat was to Elephant Butte lake for a special get together with friends that we called the Summer Blow Out.  It usually took place Labor Day weekend and involved all of our friends that wanted to participate.  Most years there were at least 10 to 12 friends who came together for a weekend of camping and fun on the water.

In the early years of our Summer Blow Out parties we all pitched tents or rolled out sleeping bags on the beach.  This particular year we decided to go first class and rent a houseboat for the convenience of having a refrigerator, stove and real bathroom with a shower!  A definite plus for us ladies! The houseboat was sailed many miles up the lake to a secluded spot where our nightly antics wouldn’t bother any other campers.  Our SBO always included a tequila night where we would sit around a campfire and pass a bottle of Jose Cuervo,  a bowl of limes and a salt shaker and tell tales about other SBO adventures, of which, there was quite a few!

The weekend was a lot of fun!  For the first time we had the ability to water ski and pull tubes because the Tracker had enough horsepower with its 90hp Mercury Marine motor.  The guys were able to sneak away in the early morning for some fishing while we ladies slept in because the motor was also quiet to start up.

When the time came to return to civilization, we all climbed inside the houseboat and tied the Tracker up to the back so we could party a little more before another SBO came to an end.  We were having a great time listening to music and lounging on top of the houseboat and inside on the comfy couches when all of a sudden my husband Barry came running to the front in a panic and screamed “The boat is gone!”  We ran to the back of the houseboat and saw a tattered rope dangling in the water.  His brand new Tracker bass boat was nowhere to be seen!  He was freaked out!  We had no idea how long it had been since it broke free from the rope.  So we turned the houseboat around and drove many minutes back up the lake until we spotted the Tracker bobbing in the waves.  Thankfully, nothing had happened to the captain-less boat.  We tied it back up to the houseboat and headed for the marina.  Barry kept a watchful eye on the Tracker to make sure he didn’t lose it again!

Another story to add to the Summer Blow Out tales!
