Aspen Acres R.V. sites provide full hook ups (no 50 amp), and are gravel and grass.  Each site has water, electric and sewer, and phones can be hooked up for those who stay an extended time. Some sites are more tucked up into the woods for those who want a wooded area. They have sites close to the shower house and rec hall for those who need or want to be closer to the center of the campground. Aspen Acres feature sites that can fit just about anything.  Whether a 40 footer or pop-up, they have a space that can accommodate you and your vehicle. Pets are allowed as long as they are on a leash. No aggressive dogs please.

There are many activities that take place on and off of Aspen Acres Campground. There's a horseshoe pit to occupy the adults and a playground area for the kids, including a basketball hoop.

There is plenty of room to hike on the campground, and bordering the San Isabel National Forest provides lots of trails to hike. Some local peaks include the 12,347 ft Greenhorn Peak, the 12,220 ft North Peak and the 11,784 ft St Charles Peak, all accessible through trails.

Three miles down the road from the campground is Lake San Isabel (alt. 8600 ft), a part of the San Isabel National Forest, provides stream fishing as well as lake fishing. The 40 acre lake, stocked by the Colorado Department of Wildlife, is a favorite for nature lovers too. Hiking trails weave throughout the National Forest, leading to beautiful mountain peaks and green mountain valleys.  Bird watchers can enjoy the many species of birds that live in the area, and if you put out a hummingbird feeder, it will be empty a lot. From elk, to dear, to bear, wildlife thrives in the area, and a trip down the scenic byway will provide you with a little of it all.

The 103 mile Colorado Frontier Pathway and Scenic Byway provides much in the area of local interest. Some of the scenic views along the way include; the 100 mile long Sangre de Cristo mountain range, the Wet mountains, the Arkansas River, Hardscrabble Canyon, Bishops Castle, and the Greenhorn Valley.

Local towns include Rye (6,900 ft) and Colorado City (6,000 ft). Colorado City boasts a 27 hole golf course. As you golf at Hollydot Golf Course (see link), you can enjoy the scenery of the Greenhorn Valley and Wet Mountains. There are three restaurants within a half hour to fill your dining needs.

Outside of Canon City, Colorado is the Royal Gorge Suspension Bridge, the world's highest suspension bridge, at a height of 1053' above the river. The Great Sand Dunes National Monument makes for a nice day's drive. Giant sand dunes located by no water, instead sitting in a valley below a set of mountains.

South Central Colorado offers much to a wide variety of interests, and yet it is still quite unexplored compared other parts of the state. It is a quiet beautiful area waiting for you to explore.
